Welcome!
If you are a true coffee lover, you've come to the right place. At CrossRoads, coffee is our passion. We go to great lengths to offer some of the best coffee beans from around the world. So if you enjoy quality coffee you will understand the small price difference between our beans over others.
CrossRoads is not just another postage stamp corporate coffee house. We live in a small log cabin with all the warmth and coziness one would expect. We are not out to get rich or make the NASDAQ 500, just pay the bills and offer  the best products available. Locally our name is synonymous with a comfortable, relaxed, laid back atmosphere. Come bye, try our products, meet our staff, sit on the porch while enjoying a wonderful cup of Joe and watch the world go by.

Have you seen Wally?

Wally is CrossRoads Coffee House official ambassador. Wally wanders Waxhaw, greeting visitors and locals alike. Mike Holliday, one of the shop owners is Wally's care taker. We can't say owner because Wally is a free spirit. He refuses to be contained, literally escaping every effort. Actually we aren't sure that Wally is even a dog. We prefer to look at him as a repackaged Gandhi. Wise beyond his years, Wally tends to bring a smile to everyone that he encounters. Well actually a smile or look of terror. Not that he is mean or viscous, some folks just don't like dogs. Either way, if for some reason Wally takes an immediate dislike to you, you may want to take a look at how your living. It is said that "If my dog doesn't trust em, why should I". Wally has had his fair share of bad luck, he has been shot twice over the last 2 years. Once with a shot gun and the last time with either a hand gun or rifle. This last instance left Wally's right rear leg paralyzed. Mike decided to let the Veterinarian perform surgery to remove the bullet from his spine. Over a period of around 6 months with dedicated physical therapy Wally almost has total use of his leg with an occasional limp.

So, if you see Wally, please don't shoot him, just tell him to go home and more than likely he will leave. We don't like people that shoot or harm animals and prefer not to serve mean people.

Waxhaw's History

Waxhaw takes its name from the Waxhaw's, both the name for the area and the name for the Indian tribe that once inhabited it. The community dates back to the 1700s, but it wasn't until 1888 that the railroad, laying tracks to Atlanta, brought prosperity. Tracks still run through the center of town along the green, grassy strip dividing two rows of stores.

The community was once dependent on cotton, but when the fiber lost its luster in the early 1960s, Waxhaw reshaped itself as an antique and fine dining center. The town has over 20 antique shops, several gift shops and dining ranging from mom & pop restaurants to fine dining bistros. (Not all shops are clustered together, so explore.).

The Waxhaw Historic District is on the National Register of Historic Places, and Waxhaw has some wonderful old houses near the center of town. Residents and town government are also working on beautification plans. A beautiful new Town Park is conveniently located in downtown Waxhaw. For new housing nearby, look along NC 75 East & West of Waxhaw, as well as Hwy 16 North of Waxhaw.

Near Waxhaw is Cane Creek Park, a 1,050-acre park that draws visitors with its beauty and its activities. A lot of folks had a hand in this park, which opened in 1978. The facility, on Harkey Road south of Waxhaw, was a cooperative venture between Union County, the Union Conservation District and the Soil Conservation Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
